ELYRIA, Ohio — The Elyria community is mourning the tragic and untimely loss of Brian Correa, a cherished third-grade student at Hamilton Elementary School, who passed away this weekend following a brief illness.
District officials shared the heartbreaking news on social media, confirming that Brian died after a short period of illness. His passing has deeply affected students, teachers, and staff across the district. Brian began his educational journey at the Early Childhood Village during preschool and continued attending Hamilton Elementary School from kindergarten through third grade.
Brian’s third-grade teacher remembered him as kind, loving, intelligent, and humble, describing him as a student whose gentle nature and positive spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met. His presence in the classroom brought warmth, and his sudden loss has left an overwhelming sense of grief within the school community.
Elyria City Schools said the Hamilton Elementary staff is deeply impacted by Brian’s death. To help students and staff cope, the Lorain County Crisis Team will be on-site at Hamilton Elementary to provide grief counseling and emotional support as the community processes this loss.
To assist the family during this difficult time, Brian’s family has established a GoFundMe account to help with immediate needs.
