TUCSON, Ariz. — The Tucson community is mourning the tragic loss of Heriberto Gonzalez, 58, who passed away Friday evening in a multi-vehicle crash on the Interstate 19 Frontage Road at W. Irvington Road.

According to Tucson Police, the crash occurred around 7 p.m. Gonzalez was driving a 1953 Chevrolet Coupe southbound on the I-19 Frontage Road when his vehicle failed to stop at a red light. The car reportedly sideswiped a Chevrolet Tahoe, ran the red light, and collided with a Toyota Tundra. Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene, and no other injuries were reported.

TPD traffic detectives are investigating the crash and are looking into the possibility of a mechanical failure involving Gonzalez’s vehicle. Witness statements helped reconstruct the events leading up to the collision.
