The Ogallala community is mourning the loss of 49-year-old Robin Cobaugh, who passed away Saturday morning following a devastating traffic accident at the intersection of Highways 81 and 32 in Madison, Nebraska.

According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 8:00 a.m. when a commercial straight truck, driven by 54-year-old Jose Figueredo, was traveling westbound on Highway 32 and failed to stop at a stop sign. The truck struck Robin’s southbound SUV, sending it into a ditch. The impact caused the truck to spin and overturn into the ditch as well.
Robin was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where she tragically passed away from her injuries. Authorities reported that she was the only fatality in the crash. The truck driver, Figueredo, was arrested and charged with reckless driving and motor vehicle homicide.
Emergency crews from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Madison Volunteer Fire and Rescue, and the Nebraska State Patrol responded to the scene. Both agencies are continuing their investigation into the circumstances of the collision to determine contributing factors.
