JONES COUNTY, N.C. — Two men were killed and a third seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash that occurred overnight on Ten Mile Fork Road near Scott Road, authorities confirmed.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol reports that the crash happened around 2:30 a.m. when the vehicle, driven by 23-year-old Aaron Overman of Havelock, ran off the right side of the road and overturned multiple times in a field. Overman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger, 31-year-old Bradley Cass of New Bern, was ejected from the car and also died. Troopers noted that Cass was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Another passenger, 29-year-old Courtney Rhodes, sustained serious injuries and was transported to ECU Health Medical Center for treatment.

Authorities say speeding is believed to be the primary contributing factor in the crash. The Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident to determine all circumstances surrounding the overnight tragedy.

Officials emphasized the importance of driving safely, especially during nighttime hours when visibility is reduced. They reminded motorists to obey speed limits, remain alert, and always wear seat belts to help prevent similar incidents.

The crash has left a profound impact on the families and friends of those involved. Local authorities continue to work on the investigation, and no further information has been released at this time.
