MACON, Ga. — The Macon community is grieving the tragic loss of 18-year-old De’Kerrio Jamontez Cobb, who was fatally shot Wednesday at a gas station in East Macon.

According to Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones, the shooting occurred at the Citgo gas station located at 1904 Shurling Drive. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were dispatched to the scene after receiving a 911 call at 11:57 a.m. Upon arrival, deputies found Cobb unresponsive with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Bibb County Deputy Coroner Luanne Stone.

Just after 1 p.m., the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office released surveillance images of a person of interest believed to be connected to the shooting. Investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying the individual as they continue working to determine what led to the deadly incident.

Sergeant Christopher Williams with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office urged anyone with information to come forward. “No matter how big or how small the information is, it may help in reference to solving this investigation that our violent crime unit is currently investigating,” Williams said.

Friends, family members, and community members are remembering De’Kerrio as a young man whose life was cut tragically short. His death has left loved ones heartbroken and searching for answers as they mourn the loss of someone who had his whole future ahead of him.
