COLBERT CO., Ala. — The Colbert County community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of Shailyn Alize Kirby, an 11-year-old girl from Tuscumbia, who was tragically killed in a collision near the intersection of Woodmont Drive and County Farm Road on Monday night. Alabama Law Enforcement Agency officials said the driver remained at the scene, and no charges are expected in connection with the incident. An investigation into the accident is ongoing.

Alize, as she was lovingly known, was a bright and loving child whose spirit touched everyone around her. Though only 11 years old, her life was a shining example of joy, kindness, and love. She had a passion for singing and dancing, and her laughter and energy could light up any room she entered. Her family and friends remember her as a beacon of happiness whose presence brought warmth to all who knew her.

Alize was deeply loved by her mother, Twanta Kirby, and is survived by her siblings: Corrections Deputy Tiffany Kirby, Kacie McBride, Lily Kirby, and her brother, Preston Kirby. The bond they shared with Alize was filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories that will now be carried in their hearts forever.

The sudden loss of Alize has left her family and community devastated, and they are now also facing unexpected financial burdens associated with funeral and memorial expenses. A GoFundMe has been established to support the Kirby family during this difficult time: Donate to honor Alize Kirby.

As the Colbert County community mourns, they also honor the light Alize brought into the world. Her smile, laughter, and kind heart will never be forgotten. Today, we remember her joy, carry her light forward, and hold her family close with compassion and support.
