QUINCY, WA — The Quincy community is grieving the tragic loss of 23-year-old Alvaro Lopez Olmedo, who passed away early Thursday morning, December 18, 2025, in a three-vehicle crash on State Route 28 near milepost 23, about five miles west of Quincy in Grant County.
According to the Washington State Patrol, Lopez Olmedo was driving westbound on SR 28 around 5:31 a.m. when his vehicle was struck broadside by an eastbound car. A third vehicle, also traveling eastbound, then collided with the rear of the second car, causing all three vehicles to come to rest fully blocking the roadway. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and pronounced Lopez Olmedo dead at the site. WSP reported that he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.


The other drivers involved were 39-year-old Miguel A. Marron of Cashmere, who sustained injuries and was transported to Central Washington Hospital, and 46-year-old Marisa M. Roddick of East Wenatchee, who was not injured. Both were wearing seatbelts. The crash was attributed to excessive speed, though it remains unknown whether drugs or alcohol played a role. No charges have been filed.
Alvaro Lopez Olmedo’s sudden death has left family, friends, and neighbors in deep mourning. Loved ones remember him as a young man full of promise, whose life was taken far too soon in a tragic accident. Washington State Patrol troopers completed next-of-kin notifications at the scene, and the community is rallying around his family during this heartbreaking time.
All three vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene, and the crash remains under investigation under WSP report number 25-113319. Officials urge drivers to exercise caution on the roads and maintain safe speeds to prevent such devastating tragedies.
