Ala. — The Lauderdale County community is grieving the loss of 75-year-old Lonnie W. Clemons, who died Monday after being struck by a vehicle on U.S. 43 near Haygood Circle, approximately seven miles north of Killen.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), troopers responded to a multi-vehicle crash around 12:38 p.m. Clemons was in the roadway when he was hit and suffered serious, life-threatening injuries. He was immediately airlifted to Huntsville Hospital for treatment, but he later died from his injuries.

Authorities said that after striking Clemons, the vehicle went on to collide with two unoccupied vehicles that were left in the roadway following an earlier crash. Troopers said no additional information is available as they continue to investigate the incident.

Friends, family, and neighbors are remembering Clemons for his kind nature and the positive impact he had in the community. His sudden passing has left a profound void, and residents are coming together to mourn his death and support his loved ones during this difficult time.
