SALEM, N.H. — Law enforcement activity at an Extra Space Storage facility in Salem sparked confusion after a manager at the location was mistakenly identified as a suspect in the Brown University shooting investigation. Witnesses reported seeing a heavy police presence at the facility, with officers surrounding the area as part of ongoing efforts connected to the multi-state manhunt following the Brown University incident and the unrelated killing of an MIT professor in Brookline, Massachusetts.

Social media circulated an unverified photograph claiming to show the suspect, but authorities have not confirmed the identity of anyone involved. According to the sister of the storage facility manager, her brother was cornered by police and detained at gunpoint, rifles drawn, before officials determined he was not the individual being sought.

No official statements have linked the Extra Space Storage facility or its employees to the shooting. Salem police have also not confirmed whether any arrests were made during the operation. Authorities emphasized that spreading unverified images or claims can endanger innocent people and disrupt active investigations.

The investigation into the Brown University shooting and the Brookline homicide is ongoing. Law enforcement urges anyone with verified information to contact official tip lines and refrain from sharing unconfirmed details on social media.
