TUCSON, Ariz. – The Tucson community is grieving the untimely death of 23-year-old David Gabriel Castro, who lost his life in a tragic single-vehicle crash on December 21, 2025.
Authorities report that the accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of East Speedway Boulevard and North Country Club Road. Castro was driving a Honda Accord southbound on Country Club Road when he lost control of the vehicle, struck a curb, and crashed into the Empire Beauty School on the southwest corner of the intersection. He was not wearing a seatbelt and was traveling significantly over the 35 MPH speed limit. Castro was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Empire Beauty School posted on social media that it will remain closed at least through Monday due to damage from the collision. The business thanked its customers for their patience and understanding and said it will reopen once it receives approval to resume operations.
