PENNINGTON COUNTY, S.D. — A tragic single-vehicle crash has claimed the life of 20-year-old Keith Brummet of Wall, South Dakota, bringing a heartbreaking end to a missing person search that began days earlier and leaving a community in deep mourning.
According to preliminary information, the fatal crash occurred at approximately 6:45 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025, at SD Highway 240 and Big Foot Road, about 11 miles south of Wall. Keith was driving a 2018 Nissan Murano southbound when he failed to navigate a curve, left the roadway, and entered a ditch. The vehicle traveled nearly 50 feet down an embankment before coming to rest.
Authorities say Keith was ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
Keith had been the focus of a missing person investigation since December 10. He was last seen around 9:00 p.m. on December 9, 2025, in Wall, South Dakota. At the time, the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office described him as 6 feet tall, approximately 265 pounds, with dark brown hair and green eyes. He had a beard and mustache and was believed to be wearing dark blue pajama bottoms with Pokémon designs, possibly along with a black puffer jacket. He was last known to be driving a dark gray 2018 Nissan Murano with South Dakota license plate 2CN 200.
The discovery of the crash has brought devastating closure to loved ones who had been desperately searching and hoping for his safe return.
At just 20 years old, Keith’s life was cut tragically short. His loss is deeply felt by his family, friends, and the entire Wall community.
