WASHINGTON (DC  — Police are investigating two separate shootings that occurred just minutes apart early Sunday morning in Washington, D.C., leaving one man dead and another injured.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded to the first shooting at approximately 6:04 a.m. in the 2300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue SE. Upon arrival, officers located a man who was unconscious and not breathing, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Medics rushed the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. He was identified as Dennis Ziegler, 23, of Northeast Washington, D.C.

Roughly 10 minutes later, officers were dispatched to a second shooting across the city in the 5500 block of Georgia Avenue NW. At that location, police found another man suffering from a gunshot wound. Unlike the first victim, the man was conscious and breathing when officers arrived. He was transported to a hospital for treatment, and his condition has not been released.

Detectives are actively investigating both incidents and are working to determine whether the shootings are connected. Authorities are urging anyone with information related to either shooting to contact the Metropolitan Police Department at 202-727-9099 or submit an anonymous tip by texting 50411.

The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for each homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information is encouraged to come forward as the investigation continues.
