MARGATE, Fla. — The Margate community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of Alexis Natanael Villatoro Gaspar, 30, who tragically died Monday evening following a collision with a Brightline train in nearby Boca Raton.

According to authorities, the crash occurred at approximately 5:37 p.m. near 1 SW 18th Street. Gaspar was driving a Chevrolet Colorado eastbound on SW 18th Street when the truck stopped on the railroad tracks. A northbound Brightline train struck the passenger side of the vehicle, causing it to roll multiple times before coming to rest in an embankment between the tracks and South Dixie Highway.

Emergency responders transported Gaspar to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Police confirmed that he was the sole occupant of the vehicle. The Boca Raton Police Department is leading the investigation, with Traffic Homicide Investigator Crawford asking anyone with information to come forward at (561) 620-6227.

Gaspar’s death has left family, friends, and neighbors in Margate devastated. At just 30 years old, his life was cut tragically short, leaving loved ones to grapple with the sudden loss. Those who knew him remember his warmth, generosity, and the joy he brought into the lives of those around him.
