GOSHEN, Ohio — Authorities are investigating a fatal head-on collision that claimed the life of a Blanchester man early Friday morning near Goshen.

According to the Goshen Township Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 3:36 a.m. on State Route 28 near the intersection with State Route 48. Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene following reports of a serious two-vehicle collision.

The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office later identified the victim as Robert Fischer, 62, of Blanchester, Ohio. Officials said Fischer was traveling along State Route 28 when another driver crossed the median and collided head-on with his vehicle. Fischer suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the other driver involved in the crash was transported to a hospital and remains hospitalized. Investigators believe alcohol and drugs were contributing factors in the collision, though the investigation remains ongoing.

State Route 28 was closed for several hours Friday morning as officers and emergency responders worked to process the scene and clear the roadway. The road has since reopened to traffic.

No additional details were immediately released. Local authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash as the community mourns the tragic loss of life.
